We will be joined by the award-winning author, performance artist, dancer, former college professor, and esteemed community activist Nana Camille Yarbrough. She will share with us her years of accumulated wisdom and discuss the re-release of her classic book Cornrows (originally published in 1979). For four decades, the book has inspired its readers to learn more about African heritage and cultural traditions through natural hairstyles. Yarbrough (respectfully known as Nana Camille) states that the book goes beyond being a display of Black hairstyles and superficial expressions. Rather, the book is a bridge toward learning about one’s history and ancestral glory.
