Our ability to create is the expression of the Divine essence that lives within us all. Through this innate gift, we can bring forth our talents, skills and use them to make profound changes in our lives and others. Through the implementation of ancestral wisdom and our natural intuition we can begin to explore means to start embodying ourselves as the god of our reality.

By shifting our perspective to focusing on a solution rather than the problem, we open the doorway for spiritual guidance to flow. This can come in the form of a sign, clear knowing, synchronicity and a variety of other ways. Learning to trust and act on our intuition is integral to our spiritual wellbeing, it is what navigates us in this world and directly connects us to source. Things such as fear, unresolved trauma and negative energies can often drown out the calls of our inner knowing, this is why regular cleansing and healing is important.

Every day we are exposed to all types of energies picked up from places and people that we meet, including things that enter our psyche such as news, social media etc. If we are not actively incorporating cleansing practices into our personal routines these energies can start impacting our lives. Negative energies can manifest in various ways including being stagnant in our goals, causing tension and arguments at home or work, feeling down etc.

Indigenous cultures globally have always been aware of the necessity for cleansing and looked to nature for solutions.  For example, one of the most notable is the use of frankincense, where its use has been documented on papyri in Kemet (Ancient Egypt) and is still commonly used in Eritrea, Ethiopia and Sudan. Frankincense is acknowledged as an energy purifier, used to cleanse spaces in preparation for prayer/ceremony and cleansing one’s aura. The aroma promotes a calm mind and reduces stress which aids meditation.

In Southern Africa imphepho is used traditionally by Sangomas. The smoke of the herb is viewed as a sacred incense which has multiple purposes, including being used as an offering to invoke ancestors, for dispelling negative energies, heightening senses and relaxing the mind for divine inspiration and creativity. It also has multiple medicinal benefits, including preventing infections.

As an empath, picking on energies is normal so I implement regular cleansing practices as part of my spiritual hygiene routine. However, the last few weeks have been extremely emotionally difficult, with feelings of lethargy, anxiety, sadness and despondency. I was aware these feelings were not of a single origin but the result of experiencing multiple things, including… feeling the collective grief from various global traumatic events, my own shadows being brought to the surface for me to confront and the impact of global shifts due to the collective consciousness rapidly changing. Plus, dealing with hormone fluctuations as my menstrual cycle was approaching.

My usual methods of cleansing were not working and it felt like there was no end in sight. I contemplated in silence, thinking what I could do to change this situation? It was then I received the inner guidance to have a sea salt and coffee bath.

Sea Salt – Is widely known for its cleansing properties and its ability to purify both physically and energetically.

Coffee – when used in the form of a bath is good for dispelling negative energy and is effective at removing heavy energies which may leave us feeling vibrationally low.

I use both these ingredients regularly for spiritual baths, but never together, so this was a new experience for me. My intention for the bath was to clear myself of all negative energies and beliefs that were keeping me locked and limited.

The results were rapid! Within a few mins of leaving the bath, I started crying. It was such a relief and freeing experience as I needed the emotional purge to release all that I was carrying. Later that night, my menstrual cycle started a day early, which I took as a sign as another expression of a release and symbolic of starting a new cycle (life, death and rebirth).

A week has now passed and I’ve had such a vibrational shift. I am feeling so much better, refreshed and optimistic. Now making myself a priority by nourishing my mental and physical health. Implementing things such as fasting, drinking lots of water and herbal teas. My spirit feels renewed and ready to create the reality I want to live in.

I share this experience as a reminder that even when certain things may not work, it’s important to stay open to the different solutions that may present themselves and to also highlight that in each and every moment we can connect to the divine within, to seek the answers to the challenges we face. Even in our most turbulent times, we must remember that life can change for the better rapidly. The natural elements, ancestors and spiritual allies are around to support us on our journey. We just have to remember that we have the ability to create and transform situations to our intended outcomes.

Believe in your own power and trust your inner guidance. Asè.
